How do I activate my free blog?
To activate your blog open your profile, select the My Applications tab,
click on the checkbox next to BLOG and press the Update Applications button.
To open your blog control panel perform the following steps:
- Open your homepage.
- Click the Control Panel menu item.
- Click the My Blogs menu item.
Can more than one person manage a single blog?
Sure. A single blog can be managed by a group of people. A group blogging is a perfect
solution for such groups as clubs and families where every member needs to
being able to post/contribute to the blog. Send us
the user names of the people who must be allowed to manage your blog, and we
will set up the group blogging for you!
How do I change the appearance of my blog?
Different themes allow you to change the way your blog looks. The instructions
in the steps below describe the process of changing your blog's appearance.
- Open your blog control panel.
- Click on the Change How My Blog Looks menu link of the Global
Settings bar to go to the page that has theme and CSS options.
- Choose a theme from the theme drop-down list and click on the Save
button when you are finished.
If you would like to change the appearance of any particular skin, a knowledge
of HTML (the programming language used to create web pages on the Internet) and
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are needed. Simply click on the CSS Overrides tab
and add desired styles.
If you do not know CSS, you can reach out and make a new friend by asking
someone who has the desired color and/or graphics on their Profile page how
they did it. People on Advenet are friendly and always willing to help, so just
ask!
How do I change the title and description of my blog?
The Advenet control panel contains many different settings for blogs. You can
change the look, behavior, content syndication settings and more using the
options shown in the image below. Many of the options are self-explanatory,
some options have a question mark icon by them, so you can get more information
about the options by hovering your mouse cursor over the question mark icon.
To change the title and description of your blog click on the Title,
Description, and News item of the Global Settings
bar in the My Blogs section.

Title: The text that will appear across the top of each page on
your blog - serves as the header for your blog. For example, "John's Technology
Blog" or "Susan's Cooking Weblog".
- Description: The text that will appear under the Title - serves
as the subtitle in the header for your blog. For example, "Ramblings about
Technology" or "Recipes passed down through generations".
- News: The content that will appear in the "News" box located at
the right side of the blog pages. For example, "I posted some new interesting
information about weblogs. Check them out."
How do I create, edit, or delete Links?
Advenet allows you to create blog links, which are hyperlinks to other web
pages that can be displayed on your blog, as shown in the images below:
The instructions in the steps below describe the process of creating a new blog
link or changing an existing link.
Note: you need to be signed in and be a blog owner/manager to perform the
actions described below.
- Open your blog control panel.
- Click on the All Lists menu link in the Manage Content bar to
bring up the links listing as shown below.
Note that all blog links must belong to a link list(category). So, in order to
create a blog link, you must have previously created at least one link list to
select when creating the blog link.
To create a new list click on the Create New List button
located on the right side, in the appeared window enter a name and a
description of the list (for example, Name:"My Favorite Places", Description:
"Websites I visit daily"), check the enabled checkbox, and
click the Save button.
- From the drop-down box select a list to manage, and after the
correct list is showing use the buttons to add, edit, or delete links.
- Add List Item: provide values for the Title, Url,
Description (optional) and Relations (optional), and choose whether or not you
want the link to be visible or not (enabled checkbox). When you are finished,
click the Save button.
- Edit: use this form to change the values of the existing link.
- Delete: use this button to delete a link from a list.
How do I subscribe to comments made on my blog?
From your Control Panel click on My Blogs,
then choose the Global Settings menu item to expand the menu
area. In the appeared menu select the Default Post Settings item.
Next, find the Send me email notifications option among the
default settings and change its value to All Comments by
selecting it from the drop-down box. Do not forget to click on the Save
button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.
Where would I find an RSS feed for the blog I like?
Look for the words "RSS" and "Syndication" on the blog you want to subscribe
to. If the blog owner made RSS feeds available, the links to those feeds must
be on the blog pages.
