Blog Posts and Pages

Pages are also not available as syndicated (RSS) content. After you have created a blog page, you can link to it from your blog posts or share it with your friends by sending them the link.

Can I upload a picture to display within my blog post?

When creating a blog post, the post page contains several tabs with options for customizing your post such as including file attachments, tag association, whether or not your post appears published or not, and etc.

The Post Attachments tab allows you to manage the files that will be available with your post. You have the option of uploading a file from your local computer, or specifying the location of a file on a remote computer using a URL. The Remove button allows you to remove a file previously added as an attachment. Clicking the Add/Update button brings up the following screen:

Choosing the Upload File option will enabled the browse button that allows you to browse for files stored on your local computer. Choosing the Link to URL option will enable a box for you specify the location of a remote file. Once you have chosen the method for attaching a file, you can click on the Save button to attach the file to your post.

After you have attached the picture, return to the Post tab and type [ImageAttachment] in the text of your blog post where you want the picture to appear. Please note, that instead of the actual image you will see [ImageAttachment] in the Write and Preview modes. Once the post is published the image will show up in your blog.

How do I get video clips to show up in my blog post content?

Whether you are writing a new blog post or editing an existing entry, you can add a video clip to your post using the Video tab as shown below.

Note: To see the video tab check the Advanced Options checkbox as shown below.

Video Url: The Url to the video file. This could be a local file or on a remote site somewhere.

Preview Image Url: This is the image to display before playback of the video. When the page loads, this image will be displayed since the video does not automatically start. If blank, a default "filmstrip" image will be used.

Video Duration: This allows you to have the length of the video display, such as "5:10". The recommended format to be used is mm:ss - if left blank it will appear as "--:--"

After the video clip has been attached, you can add it to your post by typing the text [video] where you want the video to appear in your blog post. Please note, that instead of the actual video you will see [video] in the Write and Preview modes. Once the post is published the video will show up in your blog.

What are tags and how do I use them?

Tags are words and short phrases used to organize your blog and photo gallery entries. When you create or edit an entry, you can specify keyword tags. It is just like using folders or labels for your entries: You tag these items as they are relevant to you. One item can have several tags.

Tag Examples:
  • A blog post about your recent vacation to Greece would have the following tags: Greece, vacation, Athens, family
  • A photo taken while on a business trip in Las Vegas would be tagged: Las Vegas, 2006, product presentation.

When publishing a new entry (blog posts, pages, photos), you can asign tags to it as shown below. Tags must be separated by a semicolon. By clicking on the Select Tags button you can select tags that were previously used. To create new tags enter them into the text box.
