  • Nuking out po301!!! 50/50-90

Hello to all you brilliant minds!!!

I've been trying to get my 2000 Camaro, 3.8L to pass smog with no luck.  I pulled trouble codes po420 and po301.  I've replaced the catalytic converter (since the cat's guts were all gone, it would be only reasonable to assume the catalyst had collected in the muffler) and added a flowmaster muffler. Vwaa-Las, cured po420 (O2 bank catalyst efficiency), but po301 (Cylinder 1 misfire) won't go away.  The car runs great, acceleration is smooth, and performance is normal. the MIL lamp only blinks upon hard acceleration up and around 65+ mph.  Most often when it shifts and is most frequent around 85 mph (naturally, speeds were used for testing purposes only.)

Okay, I've swapped the coil packs around, wires, and plugs, then cleared all the trouble codes with my AutoXray Scan tool.  Test drive the car and I get po301 back in.  Next, I removed the fuel rail and swapped cylinder 1 and 3 fuel injectors.  I was hoping the problem would follow the cylinder and spit out a po303 trouble code. (50/50-90, I didn't accidentally mix up the injectors and put the injector from cylinder 1 back into cylinder 1 by mistake).  Cleared codes again then a test drive brings po301 back.  Okay, I replace the stock coils with new MSD coil packs, new Duralast wires (Autozone was out of the Bosch), and some autolite platinum plugs (Wal-mart was out of Bosch).  So, I have new plugs, wires, coils, and there's a 90% chance I swapped my injectors and I'm still pulling the same po301 code.

Before I spend even more money on a whole new set of injectors (or maybe just a new one from ebay), does anyone have any other suggestions of what may be causing a po301 code on my camaro?  I was speculative of a possibly bad crankshaft position sensor, but not sure. Any thoughts would be welcomed!!!

    Thanks Everyone!!!
